What to expect
A straightforward gravel track across relatively flat ground with minimal gradient. The route passes through typical New Forest heathland and scattered woodland. Expect to see grazing ponies, cattle or donkeys. Ground conditions are generally firm underfoot but may be muddy or puddled after rain. Low-key, quiet spot with little congestion.

Free open access. No charge or permit needed. Suitable for any reasonable footwear, though waterproof shoes advisable in wet weather. Dogs allowed but keep clear of free-roaming livestock and ground-nesting birds (March–July). The short distance makes it a good warm-up or cool-down alongside longer Forest walks.
